Yash Thakur, LSG’s Emerging Star, Reveals His Bowling Heroes – And It’s Not Jasprit Bumrah

Yash Thakur’s standout performance for Lucknow Super Giants saw him dismantling Gujarat Titans’ batting, resulting in a 33-run victory. After his exceptional display, Thakur expressed admiration for Umesh Yadav and MS Dhoni. Despite Mayank Yadav’s absence, Thakur’s stellar performance, including crucial wickets like Shubman Gill’s early dismissal, played a pivotal role in LSG’s triumph.

After the match, Thakur shared that Umesh Yadav, a well-known fast bowler, is his role model. He picked up fast bowling inspired by Yadav and appreciates his guidance, even saying Umesh would help him out at any hour.

Thakur also admires MS Dhoni, the legendary finisher and former captain of CSK. He aims to end games with his bowling in the same way Dhoni does with his batting.

In the match that secured LSG’s win, Thakur took his first T20 five-wicket haul, earning the Player of the Match award. He dedicated this achievement to his late father, acknowledging his family’s support throughout his journey.

Despite a rocky start with LSG, where he struggled in his first two games, Thakur thanked the team management for their belief in him. He highlighted the support from coaches and the captain, KL Rahul, who encouraged him to trust his skills.

LSG’s next challenge will be against Delhi Capitals on Friday at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow.
