Yuzvendra Chahal, the spinner for Rajasthan Royals (RR), achieved a significant milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. He became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the IPL during a match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Sawai Man Singh Stadium. Chahal reached this milestone during the eighth over of the game when he caught and bowled Mohammed Nabi from Afghanistan and MI for 23 runs. At first in his IPL career spanning 153 matches, Chahal has taken 200 wickets at an average of 21.37, with his best bowling figures being 5/40. He has taken six four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. Chahal previously played for Mumbai Indians (2011-13) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) (2014-21) before joining Rajasthan Royals in 2022. He took 139 wickets for RCB in 113 matches and has taken 61 wickets for RR in 39 matches.
Secondly,Chahal is only the third player to achieve 200 or more wickets in a T20 competition, with England’s Danny Briggs (219 wickets) and Samit Patel (208 wickets) achieving this feat in the T20 Cup in England.
