KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are competing for a spot as the backup wicketkeeper. The national selection team is worried about Hardik Pandya’s poor batting form. They’re also deciding if they need an extra bowler. The team captain, Rohit Sharma, will meet with the selectors to discuss the team.
The announcement for the squad will come sometime this week or next, before May 1st.
Pandya hasn’t bowled much in the Mumbai Indians’ games. He hasn’t performed well with the bat either. He has only hit seven sixes in eight games, which is not good enough.
But the selectors might choose Pandya because there isn’t a better option available. Shivam Dube, another player in consideration, isn’t bowling either. Although Dube isn’t as good a bowler as Pandya, his batting form is impressive.
Rishabh Pant is performing well, securing his place as the top wicketkeeper and finisher in the team. KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are competing for the second wicketkeeper spot. Despite not batting in the middle-order, KL Rahul’s batting skills might give him an edge over Samson.
The selection committee is uncertain about who will choose among Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, and Axar Patel for the extra bowler spot.. Bumrah and Kuldeep have secured their places. But the other bowlers haven’t been in good form. So, choosing the right bowler is crucial.
