Samson’s Record-Breaking Fifty
Sanju Samson made history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the captain of Rajasthan Royals by scoring a fantastic fifty against Gujarat Titans, marking Sanju Samson’s IPL 2024 milestone as RR captain.
It was Samson’s third fifty in this year’s IPL and it helped him surpass the record previously held by Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians. After that,Samson’s unbeaten 68 runs off 38 balls is now the highest score by any captain in their 50th IPL match, beating Rohit’s 65 runs from 48 balls in 2016 against Delhi Capitals.

Sanju Samson surpasses Rohit Sharma’s milestone as RR captain
Despite Samson’s half-century, Rajasthan Royals lost their first game of IPL 2024 after strong batting by Shubman Gill and explosive finishes from Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Sen brought the Royals back into the game with their bowling, but Gujarat Titans won on the last ball. Earlier, Samson and Riyan Parag had hit the Gujarat bowlers hard.
While Samson has been in great form in IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma has struggled. Hardik Pandya replaced him as captain of Mumbai Indians before this season started, and Rohit’s batting hasn’t impressed fans or critics so far.
